GIGS WE'VE DONE
We supported Half Man Half Biscuit in Leicester this month, which was exciting for us all but especially for Tim, as he got to DRUM for them during the soundcheck - it was like Jim'll Fix It! Shortly after that we played at the WONDERFUL Indiepop All-Dayer in Nottingham, which was like a mini-Indietracks in both audience and bands, if not paralytic drunkenness, and then I finished off with a spot at Freedom Of Expression in Marylebone. Only three gigs? I'm slowing down!
RECORDS
We've got a whole new SINGLE coming out on December 8th - "The Advent Calendar Of FACT"! It'll be available as a download-only single, accompanied by a rather SNAZZY video which I finished editing this very morning. Look to your inbox on the 8th for an update on where you can see it, also FULL FACT about the single itself!
Meanwhile we were in the studio yet again this month, recording our version of "House Of Fun" for possible compilation inclusion. It is a SURPRISINGLY complicated song to play and we made it slightly MORE complicated. We're back in the studio TOMORROW (which is why this is coming to you a day earlier than normal) to do extra overdubs on the next ALBUM and also to record a whole new PIECE to go on the end of it. It's not a song, it's a PIECE! CLASSICAL!
I got a copy of the new compilation "That's How I Feel" from Stereorrific, celebrating their 10th anniversary. Much to my surprise/glee the whole thing kicks off with my version of The Weisstronauts' "Saddle Up". I'd forgotten quite how RUM a version it is, but still I recommend it to you!
Also recommended is the Fortuna Pop! compilation, "Be True To Your School". Announced about FIVE years ago this is FINALLY available to buy, with my first single "Work's All Right (if it's a proper job)" included along with 20 other top HITS from the Fortuna Pop! catalogue. The best bit is the sleevenotes though - I read them and NODDED along, I was THERE for an awful lot of it!
OTHER THINGS
The month of Movember is - thankfully - very nearly over, with me looking forward to being clean shaven again. If you'd like to donate PLEASE do so at http://www.justgiving.com/mjhibbett , it'd make my month of looking faintly ridiculous worthwhile!
My contribution to the PopArt Digest, "My Exciting Life In ROCK", reached its hundred instalment this month, at http://www.popartlondon.co.uk/digest/ . If you've not looked lately do pop in for a READ, it's been through a particularly PURPLE patch this month as we got to the many MANY stories of the Hibbett/Machine/Plimptons tour of 2004.
And that's about the lot for now - thanks for listening, and see you next month for the end of year round-up!
Cheers,
Mark
