Songs: What A Wonderful World
notes / gigs / releases(cover) (obviously)
I recorded this for the 20th Anniversary Joyzine compilation. They'd ask for tracks about joy, and as I LOVE this song I thought it would be perfect - I first learnt it about 30 years ago, copying the chords out of one of my dad's "Easy To Play On Guitar" songbooks, and have played it regularly ever since, though never at a gig. It's always been a lovely breezy acoustical song to play, but when I sat down to record it it turned into something very different, like THE TERMINATOR was suddenly realising that obliterating human life wasn't quite as much fun as they'd thought. Probably not what Louis Armstrong was going for when he did his version!
