Here's our lovely poster, designed by Mr John Allison:
ACE, isn't it? When we asked him to create it we sent him a document featuring a photograph and short description of each character, along with an illustrative quote. You can see the photographs and descriptions below - we asked him to imagine that they were photographs of particularly low quality cos-players, and to try and reverse engineer the "original" costumes from them. As you can see from the finished results on the right hand side, he did a pretty amazing job!
Tony Our hero! Barman and desperate superhero fan, who believes he can't become a superhero himself because he isn't American. "Oh Total Hero Team! How I wish I could be like them!" |
Desmond Pub landlord, father figure to Tony, and formerly the superhero Chester Champion. "Being a superhero shouldn't be about being on television – it should be about proper, wholesome things. Like horrific trauma, and vengeance!" |
The United Statesman Patriotic hero and leader of Total Hero Team. He was bitten by a radioactive flag and sued for millions, thus gain his super power of immense wealth. I think he should have a moustache! "When my fellow citizens stand together as Americans then I wield the combined power of a mighty nation, but oh! when my countrymen are divided, then I feel their pain. Although I am still incredibly rich, which helps." |
Woman-Droid Crime-fighting robot and (at the start of the show) the only other member of Total Hero Team. Hopelessly in love with The United Statesman, despite his refusal to admit that he feels the same way. "What is this human emotion you call sadface?" |
Chester Champion Britain's only superhero, not seen for thirty years. Has the power to coax cats from out of trees using his ukulele. "Good eh?" |
Doc Future Mysterious hero from the future who arrives in Desmond's pub and is invited to join Total Hero Team. "Propelled backwards in time I use my amazing futuristic devices to save a timeline I have sworn to protect – behold! Fufu The Future Kitten!" |
Fufu The Future Kitten Amazing futuristic gadget/robot/genius who works with Doc Future... and turns out to be a lot more than she first appears. "I've got Wi-Fi!" |
Smart Alex Miserablist super-baddy who uses his infinite intelligence to point out how awful everything is and how much cleverer he is than everybody else.. "I bet you phone-in for competitions / I bet you've got a television" |
The Massive Banker 600 foot supervillain who stamps on people's houses and small businesses, destroying everything to feed himself. May perhaps be lightly satirical. "You'll find that now my bank account Is equal to my mass" |
Musical Pirates A pair of thieves (only one shown) who justify their robbery by claiming to sample the goods in order to promote them to their friends. Again, possible hint of "biting" political satire. "We're sampling the contents of this shop / And if we like them then we'll say so on our blog" |
